Whenever I come visit my parent's shop, I feel like a kid again. My mom and Dad started this custom furniture shop almost 30 years ago in Tucson, Arizona, in the heart of the beautiful Sonoran Desert. Everyone at the shop is family, their head carpenter who has been there for over 25 years has watched me grow up. I've spent countless hours and made so many memories at this workshop throughout my life. When I was a child, I would build towers with glue and scrap wood. As a teenager, I begrudgingly spent my Sunday mornings here with my dad, keeping him company while he met with customers. As a college student, I worked in their retail shop selling and overseeing the store. My dad and the guys in the studio always looked out for me and encouraged me to work with tools, which helped developed my love for crafts and working with my hands.
These trips to Tucson to work in the shop are so inspiring and bring me back to the roots of my childhood.
I love this workshop and have always felt a lot of pride that my family founded this operation. Whenever I come through the doors, I am greeted with smiles and hugs, it's such a place of comfort and love for me. Collaborating on Noninoni with my dad has been, among many things, a reminder of how important our local businesses are. Our shop has provided jobs and a family for those in our community and I am so happy to be a part of that.
After college, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my career in architecture. I got married, started a family and started my own business- an architecture practice, StudioBWA. Getting to come back to work on the cribs in my parents' shop has filled me with so much pride.
Our mission is to provide a sustainable crib that's innovative and made right here in the USA with love. Each piece is cut on a CNC machine for precision and then hand sanded, finished, inspected and packaged for delivery to our community.
